Summary
Relating his continuing enjoyment of his retirement and saying that he has "not yet experienced one instant of that ennui which my friends apprehended and foretold;" saying he has no news of what the Directors have determined with regard to the government of Bengal but that he has heard that Parliament intends to extend, for a year, the laws which are about to expire; congratulating him on the continuing success in India.
