Address panel with seal and postmarks and addressed to "Captain Burney / Royal Navy / No. 26 / James Street / Westminster;" signed "Clarence" in lower left corner.
At the time of this letter, William IV was the Duke of Clarence; he did not succeed to the throne until 1830.
Burney received a promotion to Rear-Admiral on the retired list in July 1821; Burney died November 17, 1821.
