Summary
Notes in response to Herbert Dingle's essay "Scientific and philosophical implications of the special theory of relativity" (printed in Schilpp), commenting on: the special role of the four-dimensional continuum in physics, that the laws of a theory are restricted by its group of transformation, that there are no logical arguments for the postulation of such a group, that general relativity is more "natural" than special relativity because inertial systems are not preferred there, and that Professor Dingle seems to try to restrict physical laws even more by enlarging the group of transformation beyond relativity.
