Saying he is glad that Raikes's health is restored and thanking him for a letter that reports "a curious state of things at Paris." Noting that "the world is not yet aware of all the consequences of the successful attainment of a government in consequence of a Revolution" and remarking that "we are yet in expectation of the consequences of the events of the last week."
