Hoping that the peace of the world is preserved [in regards to the Oriental Crisis of 1840]; noting that if Muhammad Ali accepts the agreement [of the Convention of London] that there can be no call for war, but remarking that they may justify the [British and Austrian] attack of Beirut by claiming that the Ottoman Empire and her allies did not have confidence in Muhammad Ali's acceptance of the treaty.
