Summary
Thanking her for her kindness when he was ill; commenting on Hume's quarrel with Rousseau; saying "for men of letters delight in these silly altercations though they affect to condemn them. It spreads their names and they are often known by their disputes, when they cannot make themselves talked of for their talents;" adding that "..a real genius as Rousseau cannot appear, but he causes all the insignificant scribblers in Europe to overwhelm the public with their opinions of him and his writings. But he may comfort himself; his works will be admired, when the compilers of dictionaries and mercuries will be as much forgotten as your Grace's / most obedient humble servant / Horace Walpole."
