Summary
Listing military engagements and successes, noting that the news is better than she expected but deriding Catherine II for not sending aid to the allies; noting that there is little domestic news, but listing some recent deaths and discussing the weather and mentioning the construction of the new theatre in Drury Lane. Continuing the letter on November 10th: remarking that he has got no new news to share; reassuring her that they should stay in Yorkshire as long as they like; remarking on why he prefers to stay at Strawberry Hill. Continuing the letter on Monday morning, 11th: noting that Lysons has been drawing churches in Gloucestershire and that Mrs. Piozzi is going to publish a book on English synonyms. Continuing the letter at One o'clock: regretting that no newspaper has come and that he has no further news to share.
