Thanking her for a letter especially as she does not like writing; remarking on their improved healths; giving news about mutual acquaintances. Continuing the letter on Friday morning after breakfast: saying that he received a grove of lavender plants from Mrs. Damer at Park Place for the Berrys, and is seeing them planted at Cliveden for their return. Continuing the letter at noon: remarking that the newspaper reports nothing but referencing "new distresses announced to the vile Convention."
