Regretting that he has no news but that "the second edition of Mother Hubbard's Tale" [i.e., Mrs. Hobart's breakfast] was delayed again because of rain, and that Madame du Barry was there but Madame d'Albany was not; mentioning that Dr. Robertson has published a "Disquisition into the trade of the ancients with India" and discussing the "sensible work;" remarking that [Louis-Joseph de Bourbon] will soon make an "attempt" and lamenting the "violence, injustice, and savage cruelty" of the French Revolution; mentioning mutual acquaintances and the weather.
