Summary
Apologizing for the confused and illegible letter he sent to Mr. Berry the week before, noting that he was suffering from the gout and feared he would never see them again. Noting that he is also suffering from rheumatism, but that his appetite and sleep are good. Continuing the letter on Sunday evening: thanking her for a letter of Dec. 6 and saying he is glad that they are removing to Pisa, where the weather is more suitable. Relating an anecdote regarding the reason for Duchess of Biron's departure from Paris; regretting that he has little English news, but mentioning Lady Douglas and the marriage settlement of Mrs. Child and Lord Ducie. Continuing the letter on Monday 3rd: Noting that he is recovering his health; mentioning a visit from Lady Mt. Edgcumbe and Madame de la Villebague and reporting that Mrs. Siddons may leave the stage.
