Summary
Expressing his fondness for the Berrys, advising them not to return through France. Mentioning the death of the Duchess of Argyle and noting that Lady Douglas is still ill. Continuing the letter on Thursday 23rd, apologizing for the interlineations and additions to his letter from the night before; describing a terrible storm that awoke him in the night; mentioning parliamentary debates on the Spanish Peace, new taxes, and the Warren Hastings trial. Concluding with the observation that the Berrys do not choose the most judicious months for their travels and suggesting they embark for Switzerland in May rather than June. Remarking that Mary and Agnes "seem to write too much for their delicate breasts."
