Summary
Acknowledging receipt of a check from Smith and saying he does not need any more as he has "100 besides, & the rent of Onslow Square will be paid in a day or two;" adding that he has begun No. IV, and don't intend to have any peace of mind until I have wiped off the score on the slate;" adding in a postscript, that he has refused an offer of 500£ a year for Kensington and that he is "sorry and glad;" detailing, at the top of the page, the sums he has been paid to date, the numbers of pages he has been paid for, and the number of pages he owes.
