Summary
Questioning whether they should publish a political article that defends an aristocratic government and "shows the dangers of a democracy quite fairly...If we commence the debate, we must continue it. Be sure there will be loud answers and outcries on the part of the (so-called) Liberal-Conservative press. Shall we encounter their enmity? --take a Liberal-Conservative attitude and battle the question? To introduce into the C H M much graver matter may bring many readers who want more than novels and light articles: but if we make a Ship of war of the Magazine we must have more than one gunner--a crew of them. I dont [sic] say no."
