Referring to the Cornhill Magazine, he says it would be the "greatest of pities if we give up the account of good books...Twelve good articles on twelve good books I maintain would be as readable pleasant & useful as any we could furnish in the shape of tales sketches &ct;" relating his efforts to create a title page design.
