Summary
Writing only a brief note because he has "O such a splitting headache," which he thinks is a result of visiting Vauxhaull the previous night. Noting that it was "the stupidest sight" and that the fireworks were dreary. Mentioning that he was unable to dine at Greenwich and so came back to London where he dined alone and thought about her. Asking her to write that she is well and comfortable after her journey, and noting that he will not set off on his own trip because "I had best finish No X of Pendennis before going out on any pleasuring."
