Informing her that he has agreed to stay [in Southampton?] for two more days because there are rumors that he "seduced a Governess by the name of Jane Eyre by whom I had ever so many &c." and he wants to stay for the visit of the bishop and some clergy so he can dispel the rumor. Remarking on his stay, and mentioning other visitors including Lady Ashburton, Miss Farrer, Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Cameron. Mentioning the books he has been reading and noting "what else is there to say about the life here and the Gores, and the history of walks and lunches and dinners?"
