Writing to say good bye and outlining his upcoming travel plans to the continent; asking her to see to some charitable donations; remarking on the dreariness of the city and mentioning an invitation from the Duchess of Sutherland to visit Scotland, but noting that he would rather be with Brookfield at Brighton; possibly referencing an illness (of hers?) and discussing God and love. Assuring her that "though my nose is a broken pitcher yet lowandbyold there's a well gushing over with kindness in my [drawing of heart] where my dear lady may come and drink."
