Being a pen and ink drawing of a woman sitting on a pantry floor, clutching at her stomach, an overturned jar by her side; to the left of the drawing Thackeray has penned: "Miss Mary Nichols / Was partial to pickles / And went to the cupboard / & stole some / But they gave her such pain / She never ate them again / She found them so shocking / unwholesome."
