Summary
Apparently concerning rumors about Thackeray and a young woman (whose name has been canceled by Brookfield); mentioning several mutual acquaintances; suggesting that the Brookfield children visit their mother [in Southampton]; describing a concert given by Lady Shelburne and mentioning his recent engagements; noting that he has been writing Pendennis all morning and remarking that is working on "a very stupid part." Regretting that because of postal regulations he will not receive a letter from her until Tuesday.
