Summary
Remarking that he will not visit that day because Mr. Brookfield is returning and Thackeray imagines that he "may like to have his wife to him self." Reporting that Mr. Yorke is in town and noting that Mr. Thomas should call on him; inviting her to the birthday of his "now motherless daughter Miss Anny" and asking if she will give the children some dinner or tea in the evening as he is engaged to dine out. Reminding her that she and Mr. Brookfield are engaged to dine with Thackeray the following Monday and noting that the Scotts, Pollocks and Carlyles are also coming. Mentioning that he is going to see Mr. Sartoris that night, noting "I don't expect to see you: but if a gentleman of the name of W.H.B. should have a mind to go: we might &c &c &c."
