Summary
Responding that he "cannot undertake to contribute to any new publication, having already as many vents as I want for my literary energies." Freely expressing his surprise at seeing her "name among theirs who express sympathy with that most unutterable cur, craven, and mountebank, the dastardly and indecent miscreant [William] O'Brien." Noting that he would have been as surprised to see Walter Savage Landor supporting Ferdinand, King of Spain, or Ferdinand, King of Naples. Speaking vehemently agains the Irish nationlist leader. With a postscript thanking her for arranging for Swinburne to meet Landor's grandson.
