Summary
Concerning Sidney Colvin's recent biography of Walter Savage Landor, which does not mention E. Lynn Linton. Remarking that the omission of her name is inexplicable and inexcusable, since Swinburne supplied Colvin with a great deal of material, including the strong suggestion that he apply to Linton for her "invaluable and delightful reminisces." Wishing that he could at least edit a selection of Landor's poems, and referencing Forster and Browning's ownership of Landor's copyrights. Assuring her that if he ever writes on Landor, he will credit her. Remarking that his "last two or three books have been so generally reviled or ignored as to disappoint my few friends." With a postscript relating Watts's regret at not knowing about Colvin's slight to Linton before publishing a review of his biography in the Athenaeum.
