Dating: Steinbeck was collecting research materials and corresponding with Oscar Dancigers and Jewel de Bonilla regarding interviews, oral histories, and translations of research materials during the summer of 1948. See MA 3659.11 and MA 3659.28.
Part of a collection of notes and research materials prepared for John Steinbeck for his work on the screenplay of Viva Zapata! Steinbeck worked on this screenplay from about 1948 to 1950; the film was produced by Twentieth Century-Fox in 1952.

Typed transcription of a letter from General Pablo Gonzalez to General Venustiano Carranza, dated Cuautla, Morelos, April 10, 1919. The text was translated (ca. 1948-1950) from the Spanish as printed in Diccionario Biográfico Revolucionario by Francisco Naranjo (first published 1935).
