In his introduction to this letter, in the publication noted below, Wilbur L. Cross states that this letter "and the preceding letter (MA 417.8), though clearly dated 1766, probably belong to the summer of 1760. That is, in making copies of them, Sterne inadvertently wrote 1766 for 1760."
