Remarking that his was the first letter she received on learning she was to be made a Dame; thanking him for his influence in this matter, saying that she and Osbert knew from the beginning "that it must be you who has drawn down this disgrace on the British Empire;" thanking him for his encouragement and discussing the inspiration she draws from him and Jane. Remarking that she has been ill due to the terrible reviews in the Times Literary Supplement and New Statesman. Inviting them to dine with her in London before the 21st. Discussing her travel plans.
