Summary
Soliciting the favor of his influence in becoming Scott's publisher: remarking that it seems as if the Author of Waverly and his publishers are "on the point of breaking off" their connection, and taking the opportunity of "most earnestly soliciting" Lockhart's influence with the parties who manage the Authors works; noting also that it appears Sir Walter Scott's connection to the same publishers "may terminate from the same unfortunate cause" and remarking that he would consider it "the highest honour which my profession can attain to" if he were able to publish Scott's works "if it were only during an Interregnum."
