Summary
Saying he will leave for London and possibly Paris next week in order to complete his research on Bonaparte; remarking that "I have not great personal wish either to go to London or Paris, but I think I ought not to decline availing myself of that information which may render the book of greater value;" leaving it to the booksellers to determine when to advertise the work; noting that he would prefer the byline "Author of Waverly" but is "quite willing to give that of S.W.S. if thought better;" regretting that the publication will be delayed until the new year.
