Summary
Asking "What is going to be done about the life of dear St. C. [Ruskin]--there are such contradictory reports in the paper as to who is to write it and whether it is to be written at all;" relating news of a recent illness of her husband; discussing the season saying "Autumn has this year quite forgotten to keep Burnt Sienna & kindred tints in her paint box, the woods are here & there speckled with dirty yellow & are slowly dropping dark green & dull gray leaves--no russet & golden carpets round their feet as last year. I wonder why it is--I miss the autumn colouring very much."
