Part of a collection consisting of 64 letters from Sir Edward and Lady Georgiana Burne-Jones primarily to John Ruskin, Joan Severn, and their circle, dated ca. 1864 to 1918. Collection also contains copies of seven letters of Lady Burne-Jones to Ruskin from 1862, and three related envelopes. Letters in this collection have been described individually in separate catalog records; see collection-level record for more information.

Summary
Discussing the paintings he will bring to an exhibition next week and wondering if they will be hung; drawing two small self-portraits in ink and writing below them, "This is how I spent yesterday in the company of Alfred Asthma;" adding, in a postscript, "If you want an Investment, go in for the John Ruskin Lifeboat Company. I'm the secretary & sole Director. Send £1000 by return. 700 to buy the boat & 300 as a bonus to the crew, who will all be experienced wreckers--the fund producer by salvage will provide Enormous Dividends!!"
