Part of a collection of letters, many of which were written by Ruskin's grandmother to his mother and father, or by John James Ruskin, James Tweddale, and other members of the family to one another. Collection also includes the indenture of Ruskin's grandfather (MA 7791.1, dated 1776), and a pedigree of the Ruskin family compiled by W. G. Collingwood.. Summary
Expressing grave concern at Margaret's ill health; saying "Indeed it is cruel to let Margt [sic] sink in this way. We must do something to save her or you must lose me...will you & my dear Father assure Margt [sic] that you have both become reconciled to our union & be happy--or will you see her & me both fall sacrifices to this anxiety;" concluding by saying "Margts [sic] fate & mine are one."
