Collection also includes the indenture of Ruskin's grandfather (MA 7791.1, dated 1776), and a pedigree of the Ruskin family compiled by W. G. Collingwood.. Complimenting him on his "intellectual progress. Even when you were a mere boy I was much delighted with your early zeal;" encouraging him to continue his reading of Belles Lettres even though his profession might not seem to require it; saying "that there is a great difference between studying professionally and studying for relaxation; suggesting he read and re-read Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations as he embarks on his career as a Merchant; suggesting additional books; sending his regards to his family.
