Notes
Address panel with postmarks and addressed to "Mrs. Ruskin / John Jas. Ruskin, Esq. / Herne Hill / Dulwich / London."
Part of a collection of letters, many of which were written by Ruskin's grandmother to his mother and father, or by John James Ruskin, James Tweddale, and other members of the family to one another. Collection also includes the indenture of Ruskin's grandfather (MA 7791.1, dated 1776), and a pedigree of the Ruskin family compiled by W. G. Collingwood.. Items in this collection have been described individually in separate catalog records; see collection-level record for more information.
The salutation in this letter is to "Dear Aunt", the signature appears to be "JRRichardson", therefore, the letter may have been written by John Richardson, nephew of Margaret Ruskin and brother to James Richardson.
This collection was part of Helen Gill Viljoen's large bequest of John Ruskin-related material (formerly MA 3451).
