Summary
Enclosing John Griswold's answers to White's questions about the Philadelphia Zoo's Bird Lake and trumpeter swans, along with other Zoo-related material including a photograph of Bird Lake. Describing his visit to the Zoo, noting that "Bird Lake is all it's cracked up to be." Discussing the swans he saw at the Zoo, mentioning that "while the name of the trumpeter swan would seem to recall British kings and heraldry, the bird's trumpet call is a brief "yarp" that sounds more like the squeezed bulb horn of an old Reo," but that they are "elegant and imposing creatures." Responding to his inquiries about Philadelphia night clubs, recommending that White's character not frequent any as "they are all joints and creepy," but enclosing some listings from the Philadelphia Magazine. Looking forward to the completed work, and suggesting he send a copy to Griswold when it is published.
