The railway accident at Bullhouse Bridge occurred on July 16, 1884 and 24 passengers were killed. The cause was suspected to be metal fatigue and there is considerable discussion of "bad metal" and the probable negligence of the railway in Mrs. Simon's letter to Ruskin.
Written from "49. Sandgate Road / Folkestone."
