Thanking her for her letter; saying "My wits are all astray just now--the girl whom I've been in love with these ten years [Rose La Touche] has treated me dreadfully and driven me all but mad--(sent for me from Venice and petted me for three days and yet wouldn't marry me-) and I've forgotten everything;" saying he would be happy to look at the sketches; saying he received Granite's five pounds which he would like to return as he doesn't want help from friends for 'Fors' [Fors Clavigera].
