Summary
Saying that he is sorry she is ill and that he is shut up with a toothache; asking her to "copy, with pen and ink...either of the three heads I send herewith. I want to see exactly how accurate your eye and hand are before I can take counsel with you about what ought to, or may be, done;" saying he is also sending a "light chalk sketch by Vandyck [van Dyck]--which you may amuse yourself by copying if you like--but lightness of this kind can only be got at by intense accuracy to firmness first--so the ink is what I want.
