Summary
Reporting that his portrait is advancing, thinking that it will "be a likeness and a tolerably good picture" and hoping to send it to her before he leaves Edinburgh; looking forward to his departure to Abbotsford on the 11th; alluding to scandal surrounding the Queen and King, remarking that the cheering crowds that seem to be supporting her may only be cheering her out of hatred for her estranged husband the King; referencing his son Walter's military career; encouraging her to travel abroad; saying that his "own motions are very uncertain and will depend much on the manner in which I must dispose of my second son."
