Reporting that "the pension business (regarding Mr. Home) is at length completely and finally settled & my income bettered by at least £1000;" noting that his architecht's ill health has prevented his sending a cottage plan to her; mentioning that he and Mrs. Scott have no intentions to enlarge their expenses even with the additional income and intending to "have a considerable saving fund for the bairns;" discussing mutual acquaintances, describing the Duke of Buccleuch's funeral and mentioning particulars related to that family.
