Summary
Discussing his recent visit to the Herbides; describing at length a particular cave on the uninhabited island of Staffa, his reception by a young Chieftain and the Laird of Staffa, the poverty on Iona, and an encounter with some boatmen who praised Scott as "the great bard of the lowland border" and insisted on naming a remarkable pillar in the cavern after him.
