Summary
Concerning Lord Abercorn's reading the first cantos of The Lady of the Lake, saying he is pleased that Abercorn approves and promising to send the remaining cantos as soon as they are printed; reporting that three of his children have been sick; assuring her that he does not think ill of Lord Melville and praising him and the decision to grant him a pension; discussing the possibility that Lady Castlereigh (later Marchioness of Londonderry) has a collection of letters from Jonathan Swift to her ancestress Mrs. Howard and wondering whether it would be possible to secure copies of the letters for his research.
