Summary
Apologizing for any hurt he may have caused by the personal remarks he made in his last letter; saying that "I meant simply to compare your kind of distress consisting of illness with mine consisting of lost or missed happiness;" saying "you cannot bury yours [grief]. Lost strength and present illness make themselves felt every day;" resolving "never to write any more letters to anybody on topics of personal interest either to them or to me. It involves all costs of danger."
