Summary
Asking why she has not responded to his two previous letters; describing his three-month visit in London, noting that he saw Lady Maria, the Princess of Wales, Lady Charlotte Lindsay many times and that they stayed some days with Sir Samuel and Lady Hood; reporting that they visited Knowles on their return; inquiring after Lord Hamilton's health; with a postscript reporting that Lord Melville is unwell "with his former bilious complaint," and fearing that he is "imprudent at table."
