Sending her a copy of Robert Burns's Love-Letters to Clarinda, and describing Burns's relationship with Mrs. Meiklehose (i.e., Clarinda) and the events that led to the publication of the letters; reporting that he has finished Marmion, noting that "in the sixth and last Canto I have succeeded better than I had ventured to hope;" promising to send her a copy soon.
