Describing the "great number of trifles" he had to attend to on his return home, "which the head of the family among us little people generally finds it best to look after himself," and mentioning that "there were sheep to be bought and bullocks to be sold -- there was a sick horse and a lame greyhound to be cured -- there were Salmon to be caught and poachers to be punished." Reporting that he has taken possession of his new office; discussing the "ornamenting the interior of the cottage" and saying that he is flattered that she asked for his assistance; responding to her inquiries about his literary engagements, reporting that "Dryden's Works is advancing I hope prosperously" and that some ballads will be published; regretting that he does not know Gaelic.
