Part of a collection of letters from John Ruskin to Francis H. Butler and G. F. Watts. Letters in this collection have been described individually in separate catalog records; see collection-level record for more information.
This letter was evidently forwarded by Watts to an unknown recipient and enclosed in an envelope from Ruskin addressed to Watts; a note on the envelope of Ruskin's letter to Watts reads: "I send you Bowman's letter and one from Ruskin. Please do not lose them as they are both interesting." The Ruskin letter mentioned in this note is a letter from Ruskin to Watts, undated but with a postmark of Nov. 18, 1863 (MA 3881.42).
Written on stationery embossed "North End, / Hampstead / N.W."
