Written on stationery embossed "Brantwood, / Coniston. Lancashire."
Provenance
Listed in a 1910 Maggs catalog (cat. 262, lot 839); and in a 1952 Carnegie Bookshop catalog (cat. 167, lot 374); gift of DeCoursey Fales in 1952.
Summary
Informing Damon that he has been "wholly misinformed" about his collection and that "my crystals are such as you may see any day in the British Museums" except for two which are made unique by his ways of cutting; informing Damon that he is "much too occupied at present" to show the collection but hopes he enjoys his visit to Coniston "in such a pleasant season" and suggesting he attend "the meeting of the Mineralogical Society in Edinburgh on the 24th" so that he may "see a selection of my agates at your leisure."
