Summary
Discussing Madame de la Rue and his mesmerism of her; mentioning her "gradually altering state," and fearing that the influence he exerted over her is "fading fast" now that he can no longer mesmerize her in person; alluding to his correspondence with her and referencing the terrible dream that has tormented her, observing "that her fear of it is greater than her subservience to me;" saying that he cannot beat down this "Phantom" from a distance, but proclaiming that "pursuing that Magnetic power, and being near to her and with her, I believe that I can shiver it like Glass."
