Mentioning that he is "turning over" some books left with Rossetti for Allingham, noting that the only one to his taste is the poet Mrs. Boddington; Describing Mrs. Burr, who reminds him of Mrs. Boddington, as "refined & very nearly beautiful, energetic withal to an extraordinary degree in Ruskin's style, but quite mild & feminine;" discussing Italian art; mentioning that he has completed a "largeish drawing" of Dante's Dream of Beatrice Lying Dead for Miss Heaton; enclosing (not present) some notes from Browning; mentioning Ruskin; alluding to his "loathing" of Walt Whitman; summarizing the pictures sent to the Royal Academy (five by Millais, one painting and some landscape drawings by Hunt, and one by Hughes."
