Provenance
Purchased by Pierpont Morgan from the London dealer J. Pearson & Co. in 1909.
Summary
Responding to a letter wherein Allingham apparently asks him to try and salvage the engraving (for Allingham's poem "The Maids of Elfen Mere"); promising that he will "at once try and see Dalziel, & myself superintend, if he will stand it, such alterations as may be possible." Hoping the result is successful enough that Rossetti will be able to attach his name to it.
