Summary
Regretting the failure of his design (for Allingham's poem "The Maids of Elfen Mere") and planning to make him a small water colour or pen and ink drawing of the subject, noting that "since we cannot hang the engraver, the drawing at any rate should receive no quarter," and discussing ways in which the engraving might be salvaged. Asking him to return Ruskin's letter to Miss Siddal and happily reporting that "Ruskin's interest in her continues unabated, & he is most desirous of benefiting her in any way in his power." Giving an account of the life and suicide of his uncle Polidori.
